Graphic Design
Sufjan the baby penguin is OpenHatch's default user avatar and unofficial company logo/mascot. Created in my role as Director of Research and Design for OpenHatch, a startup that promotes participation in open source software. Drawn during October 2009.
Designed cover art for Wrong Side of Dawn's 2009 "The Grinder's Tale" EP.
Reworked, updated, and converted to vector format the Students for Free Culture 'blocks' logo.
Designed a new gift certificate for the Scripps Store in August 2007 while serving as the Store's webmaster.
Created a logo for Normandale Lutheran Church's 2004 mission campaign. Incorporates images of a boat (the campaign proceeds went in part to fund a new boat for a Bangladesh clinic), an oil lamp (lamps were given out to the congregation as part of the campaign), a cross, the colors of the Bangladeshi flag, and the Normandale "swoosh."
Video
Drew and animated Open Access 101, a short Flash video that explains how academic publishing works and why open access to research matters, for SPARC.
Filmed and edited Voices of Open Access viral video series with Matthew Agnello for SPARC and PLoS. See: Sharon Terry, Patient Advocate; André Brown, Grad Student; and Diane Graves, Librarian. The video series was used by libraries around the world to celebrate the first annual Open Access Day in October 2008.
